NEWS

 

Rustington Parish Council, the Littlehampton District Lions Club and many local Groups, Clubs, Schools, Organisations and individuals are moving ‘full steam ahead’ with comprehensive and fun-packed Programme of Events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June 2012.

 

To date, confirmed events are as follows:-

 

Friday 25 May – Saturday 16 June

  • Royal Memorabilia Exhibition – Rustington Museum, The Street – 10.00 am – 4.00 pm (Closed Sunday 27 May, Monday 28 May, Sunday 3 June)

Wednesday 30 May

  • ‘Singing for Pleasure’ Choir Concert (U3A) – The Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre (2.30 pm – 4.30 pm – Times to be confirmed)

Thursday 31 May

  • Toddler Time (10.10 am – 10.30 am) and Baby Rhyme Time (11.30 am – 11.50 am) – Rustington Library, Claigmar Road

  • Schools Concert (Georgian Gardens Community Primary School, The Angmering School and The Littlehampton Academy) – The Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre – 7.30 pm – 10.00 pm

Friday 1 June

  • Coles Fun Fair – North Field, Woodlands Recreation Ground – 2.00 pm – 10.00 pm

  • ‘Healthy Walks in the Community’ (Rustington Community Partnership) – 10.15 am for 10.30 am – Starting from the Village Information Centre, Churchill Car Park (and Friday 8 June)

  • ‘Kings and Queens’ Diamond Jubilee Day at Georgian Gardens Community Primary School

  • A One-Act Play with Audience Participation (Rustington Players) – The Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre – Evening Show Time to be confirmed

Saturday 2 June

  •  Coles Fun Fair - North Field, Woodlands Recreation Ground – 2.00 pm – 10.00 pm

  • ‘60 Interests for 60 Inspirational Years’ Exhibition (St Peter and St Paul Parish Church) – Church Hall, The Street – 10.00 am -12.30 pm

  • The Garden Café – Community Garden at the rear of Rustington Museum:-

  10.00 am – 1.00 pm – Table Top Sale

  1.00 pm – 2.00 pm – Georgian Gardens Community School Choir

              2.00 pm – 3.00 pm – Teddy Bears Picnic and Stories

  • A Table Tennis Taster Session and Demonstration for All Ages (Woodlands Table Tennis Club) – The Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre – 10.00 am – 12.00 noon

  • Prom Concert (Littlehampton Concert Band and The Sussex West County Guide Choir – The Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre –  7.00 pm – 10.00 pm

Sunday 3 June

  • Coles Fun Fair – North Field, Woodlands Recreation Ground - 2.00 pm – 10.00 pm

  • Jubilee Themed Antiques Fair (Arun Fairs) – Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre – 10.00 am – 4.00 pm

  • Food Festival (Dizzy Support 4 Diabetes) – The Street – 10.00 am – 4.00 pm

  • Churches Together Open Air Service – Woodlands Recreation Ground – 11.00 am

  • Arts and Crafts Workshop and Free Taster Session (Rustington Community Partnership) – St Peter and St Paul Parish Church Hall, The Street – 2.00 pm – 6.00 pm

  • Quick Cricket Tournament (Rustington Cricket Club) – Primary School Teams – Woodlands Recreation Ground – 2.30 pm

  • Whist Drive – Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre – 7.00 pm

Monday 4 June

  • Coles Fun Fair – North Field, Woodlands Recreation Ground – 2.00 pm – 10.00 pm

  • Carnival Day – Commencing at 1.00 pm with a Royalty Themed Procession through the Village followed at 2.00 pm by the Traditional Grand Fete. Arena Events will include the Army Cadet Corps Kit-Kar Display Team, Eagle Heights Birds of Prey - Flying and Static Display and Ferret Racing

  • Grand Diamond Jubilee Charity Raffle – The Garden Café, Community Garden at the rear of Rustington Museum

Tuesday 5 June 

  • Coles Funfair -North Field, Woodlands Recreation Ground – 2.00 pm – 10.00 pm

  • Punch & Judy Shows – The Community Garden at the rear of Rustington Museum – 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm

  • Treasure Hunt (Rustington Residents Association) – WRVS Centre, Car Park rear of Co-op Store – 11.00 am

  • Short Mat Bowls Tournament (Rustington Short Mat Bowls Club) – Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre – 10.00 am – 4.00 pm

  • Children’s Sports Day (Children and Youths up to the age of 15, Mums & Dads), Teddy Bear Raffle, Bouncy Castle, Traditional Side Shows, Face Painting, Tombola, Arts & Crafts Stalls, Refreshments, BBQ and Licensed Bar (Rustington Sports and Social Club) – Woodlands Recreation Ground – 2.30 pm

  • Live Music and Disco Event, Licensed Bar, BBQ and possible Hog Roast (Rustington Sports and Social Club and 1st Rustington Scout Group) – Woodlands Recreation Ground – 6.00 pm – 10.00 pm

  • Firework Display (courtesy of Coles Funfair) – Woodlands Recreation Ground – 10.00 pm

Friday 8 June

  • 'Singing for Pleasure' Choir Concert (U3A) – The Village Memorial Hall, The Woodlands Centre (7.00 pm – 10.00 pm – Times to be confirmed)

In addition to all of the above, there are still a number of other events, details of which have yet to be confirmed, including a ‘Draw a Picture of the Queen’ Competition for the Under 5’s and a ‘Write a Poem’ Competition for the Over 5’s at the Library, a Schools’ Scarecrow Competition and a ‘Fill a Container’ Garden Competition, Art and Photographic Exhibition and an Art and Craft Trail through the Village.

 

All of the aforementioned Events, and more, will continue to be publicised in future Press Releases and the confirmed Programme of Events will be included in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Programme, which will be delivered to all households in Rustington during May, with the Parish Council’s Annual Newsletter.
